ALLISON TARTALIA'S "READY" GARNERS TWO OUTMUSIC AWARD NOMINATIONS:
"OUTSTANDING DEBUT RECORDING-FEMALE" AND "OUTSTANDING PRODUCER"
May 14, 2003 (New York, NY) – New York-based singer-songwriter Allison Tartalia received two nominations this week for the 2003 Outmusic Awards. The bisexual artist's debut album, "Ready," has been nominated in the category of "Outstanding Debut Recording Female" and shares a second nomination for "Outstanding Producer" with co-producer Mike McGinnis. Winners will be announced June 1st at a ceremony to be held in Manhattan's renowned Knitting Factory music club. Tartalia is slated to perform at the awards. Other artists nominated for 2003 Outmusic Awards include Mark Weigle, Doria Roberts, Garrin Benfield and Gina Young.
The Outmusic Awards (OMAs) are presented by Outmusic, an international network of LGBT performers, composers, producers, media and other supporters of LGBT music and the artists who create it. More information about Outmusic and a complete list of this year's OMA nominees can be found at the organization's website: www.outmusic.com. Tickets to the awards ceremony at the Knitting Factory can be purchased through the Outmusic website.
Dubbed a "singer with a sultry voice" by Marc Santora of The New York Times, Tartalia has been building a following at New York hot spots like Fez and the C-Note. A mixture of rock, jazz, folk and pop, Allison Tartalia's "Ready" has been the subject of much critical praise: Chuck Eddy of The Village Voice raves "Wonder of wonders, this native New Yorker's debut CD sounds legitimately more jazzy than folky--smack-dab in the Laura Nyro/Ricki Lee Jones/Sophie B. Hawkins lineage, complete with sax solos warm enough for Baker Street . . ." and Bill Ribas of NYRock.com says "Tartalia is to pop music what granola is to cereal . . . . complex, loaded with surprises and textures, and more than filling." Songs from the album are being played on radio stations around the country.
"Ready" can be purchased online at CDBaby.com, Womanrock.com and Amazon.com.
